Compact Owl - Backplate choices

For my design, I am thinking of using a simple cable gland with a multi-strand cable to wire up the owl, however I noticed that there is the option to include the RJ45 ethernet connector. What benefit would this have, quick connection to the SBC for updates and diagnosis?

TIA

Alex

The idea with the RJ45 connector is to allow faster data transfer and/or options to run a local hard-wired network instead of a wireless system. It’s not essential though.

I found the wireless setup worked quite well for us so far for smaller systems, so I think 30ft would be fine.

You can still run updates wireless over SSH by just dialing into the same network the Pi is on or by using the Pi as a hotspot.

Awesome, thanks for the clarification!
